EU Construction and Demolition Waste Management Protocol and Guidance (revision and update)

The purpose of this study is to support the European Commission in the revision and update of the EU ‘Construction and Demolition Waste Management Protocol’ and the ‘Guidelines for the Waste Audits Before Demolition’ in response to changing technological and EU policy landscapes. The Protocol, published in 2016, presents a set of rules for waste identification, source separation and collection, waste logistics, waste processing, and quality management. It also describes policy and framework conditions. The Guidelines, published in 2018, present best practices for the assessment of construction and demolition waste streams prior to demolition or renovation of buildings and infrastructures (waste audit).
